Original Art from the Original Artists
Posted on March 7th, 2011 No commentsArt collectors from around the world spend millions of dollars each year to get their hands on original art. They may buy a piece for their private collection or arrange to buy or sell a piece for a museum or other public display. No matter what you are looking for in a work of art, chances are it's available from somewhere – for a price.
The key, however, is finding the art that you want. You can sign up notifications from the auction houses, scour EBay, and spend time at estate sales trying to find the one piece of original art that will set your collection over the top. However, you may have better luck with using an art broker and you'll save a lot of time and energy, too.
Some of the most sought after pieces aren't only the grand masters that you would think of, such those by Pablo Picasso or Andy Warhol, although, they are available, too. The art that is in very high demand today are many of the modern and contemporary artists of the past 150 years. Original art from the likes of Norman Rockwell, Peter Max, and Romero Britto are quite in demand and some of their works are quite rare. Peter Max, for example, is one of America's most popular living artists, and his work is found in the private art collections of five United States presidents. He redesigned the NBC peacock and was the Official Artist for the 1994 World Cup. Peter Max original art can be found in museums around the world, but there are many pieces up for private sale, too.
Romero Britto is an artist who's easily identified because of his use of bright colors and composition qualities of cubism. Much different from Peter Max, but almost as popular, these works grace the walls of many museums and private homes around the world. His work in the art world has been the inspiration for other artists and continues to grow in value with each passing year.
An art broker is certainly your best bet for finding some of the rarer pieces. You can even use one of the online brokers to find original art. It's a huge industry because of the high demand and brokers must now keep their prices very competitive. However, you must ensure that you use only a reputable broker. Some have been in business for decades and those are the online art brokers that you should consider. A certificate of authenticity should accompany any original art.
In closing, if you're looking for a new piece of art to add to your collection, consider contacting one of the online art brokers. You may pay less for their services and some off you the option of a "best offer" instead of the retail price. In many cases, you could save thousands of dollars for a Peter Max or Andy Warhol piece that you couldn't even find for sale in a traditional gallery.

Be Fearless–Buy Original Art
Posted on February 28th, 2011 No commentsOkay, so you want to buy original art, but you scared that you will end up spending a fortune on something that is essentially worthless junk. It is possible that you could become a victim of a fraud if you do not have some knowledge about Art and do not how to tell an original piece of art from a fake. You need to invest some time in order to learn some useful tips that will help you avoid these situations.
So is most of the word. But the only way to succeed in the art business is to research and take a chance. Learning the art terms, being able to depict original art from reproduced prints, and getting the best deals is an art itself, and like anything else, you have to acquire the abilities to succeed—all of which can be learned.
Pointing out an original art piece among hundreds of reprints is like, well, for lack of a better term, picking a needle from a haystack. To successfully buy art, one must learn to do this, no matter how tedious and scary it seems. One way to do this is research. And research. And research some more. And then all over again until you think you have found some reliable resources that precisely tell you (not in the fine text) what art is original, and which is not.
Once you are more confident that you've found truthful sources, it is then time to decide on your taste preference, and what style/type/medium of art you would like to collect. Oh, and here's that word again: research. A buyer needs to know all the spiffy words and phrases related to art so that when searching for those perfect pieces, you know what to ask for (and keep yourself from seeming like a novice). Also, consider the price range you would like to stay in, that way you can keep yourself from ‘breaking the bank' or splurging on something when you do not have to.
Okay, after some more research (No, I'm not kidding), the buyer can make a selection on what art he/she wishes to buy. The tools to being successful once finding reliable vendors are: Checking for quality, a COA (certificate of authenticity), and bargaining. Like when shopping for cars, you always bargain with the salesman, right? Why not for art? You do want to get the best price possible. Maybe you could even take the route of having the piece appraised to make sure you're not paying double. And then more research, just to make sure the piece of art you select it truly an original art piece.
Finally, conclude the purchase! All original art fluctuates in price over time, and the buyer should keep up-to date on this, and not accidentally sell the piece for lower than you should (if you eventually want to sell it).
So take these skills, never forget them, and then research some more, and you can make the art of buying art an extremely enjoyable hobby.

Leroy Neiman Original Painting ? Find This Original Art for Less
Posted on December 27th, 2010 No commentsLeroy Neiman is easily one of the most popular living artists in American. His original art over the past several decades have brought prices above $100,000 and it's very easy to see why. Through a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, enamel, pencil drawings, pastels, and some lithographs, his view of the sporting world is unmatched today.
Leroy Neiman has received a number of awards, including the Sport Artist of the United States in 2007. He's listed in the Art Collector's Almanac, Who's Who in the East, in American Art, and in the World. It's quite the honor and for anyone who has seen and appreciated Leroy Neiman original paintings, it's not a surprise. For those want to add Leroy Neiman original paintings to their collection, you can expect to pay several thousand dollars at least.
Why do these works strike such a chord with America? For one thing, there isn't another artist that combines such visual markers for sports scenes. For another, his works are also popular with another market. He drew several sketches for Playboy magazine that were used to set up the cameras for the centerfold shots. Many of the original art sketches are sold for thousands, as well. These "other side" of Leroy Neiman brings a little mystery to the man and that's why Leroy Neiman original paintings are so popular.
When you're looking for Leroy Neiman original paintings, you should start online. There are a number of original art pieces that go up for sale each year and many of them are sold online through auction houses and art brokers. This is usually much less expensive than purchasing a piece through a gallery or from a private party. In addition, the reputable art brokers and auction houses will provide a certificate of authenticity to go with the original art.
You can't be too careful today, as there are a number of rather unscrupulous brokers around, too. A piece of original art that is later determined to be a fake can put the buyer in a bind. They won't be able to recoup their loss in their investment and many times, the insurance company won't pay for it, either. Do your background work on any online art broker or auction site before you make a purchase. Those companies that have been in business for decades are your best bet, but it's also a good idea to check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any unresolved complaints.
In closing, your can find Leroy Neiman original paintings online and for much less than you might think. Using an online source is becoming more and more popular, especially as galleries and private sellers are asking higher prices. When you can get your hands on a piece by your favorite artists and enjoy their work in your home or office, it makes every minute of your search worth it.

I've been denying the artist inside me for too long. It seems to be that no mater what I do in life, things always bring me back to my Art. I love it, I enjoy it, it defines me. At the moment I'm just following my dreams, doing what I love...
Painting has always been a long time hobby of mine, but over the past couple of years it has been something I've found myself doing more and more and I've given a lot of my work away without documenting it, so a lot of it is lost in the sands of time... With the site I'm hoping to get a lot more exposure and feedback on my work which will help me to grow and develop further as an artist. All comments and critiques are welcome!
