Advantages Of Having Canvas Photos
Posted on December 31st, 2009 No commentsA canvas photo is a normal photo, which has been placed on a canvas medium. Canvas was originally used for paintings and this started in the middle ages. One advantage of canvas photos is that this canvas is very long lasting – you only have to go to a world-class museum to see the condition of paintings that were done hundreds of years ago. Such a famous painting is Leonardo da Vinci’s Monalisa, which was done about half a millennium ago. Another name for a canvas photo is a canvas picture.Another major strong point for using canvas photos is that the photos that you submit can be in any format. You can submit your digital photo to be put on canvas or the photo can be still. A digital photo is easier to deal with because you just have to input it into the system and edit it a little. A still photo is harder to do because it has to be scanned first before it is input into the system. Apart from digital and still photos, you can also get a canvas picture from turn slides, negatives, or even your children’s drawings. A major strong point is that the quality of canvas photos is really amazing and the final product looks very real. It can be said that the quality is sometimes better than the real thing because before the final product is gotten, some editing is done and so such things as blemishes, shadows, bad lighting, etc, can be taken care of.Another advantage of these photos is that the final product is much larger than the original sample. The customer dictates the size of the final product and it depends on such things as the money available for the same, the size and position of the wall it is to be placed into, and other personal preferences. Another advantage is that the cost is not as much as an artist would seek because artists have to use their hands and imagination, which increases the cost. Another reason why the cost is not too high is that it takes a very short time and with the artist, the time spent and consequently translated into cost is a lot. As indicated, time is a major advantage and you mostly have to wait a few days only to get your picture.Companies involved in canvas photos are now many and apart from lowering costs due to competition, this has led to other advantages in terms of complementary services offered such as transport to your house at a discount or production of free small pictures if you place an impressive order. If you decide to get a canvas picture, you get to decide on all aspects of the final product. You get to decide on such issues as the picture being horizontal or vertical, the amount of lighting you want in your picture and such other issues. You will be able to do this because the designer sends you e-mails of the preview and for your consideration.

Modern Canvas Art – The Perfect Christmas Gift
Posted on December 19th, 2009 No commentsModern Art can make a fabulous (Christmas) gift, for the person who enjoys the style of open plan living. The hardest thing? Actually giving it away! Imagine how enthused you would be, to receive something as ‘tres chic’, as a modern canvas art piece. Many people today, favor the style of open plan, minimalist living. Simplicity and practicality, a living space that neither clutters nor cramps our lifestyle. Even so, for most, at least one, equally modern and simple canvas, upon those white walls, makes their home feel much more personal. And, in many ways, more unique.
Modern art canvas prints unique? This, to some, may seem like a paradox. And, probably even more so, with regards to the mass produced modern art, often sold online. However, it should be remembered. There are a myriad of modern artistic styles, and the paintings available, of those styles, is huge. Each style, then being further individualised by any particular artist. And, simply because these artists are not well known, it does not mean their capability is, in some way, inferior. Far from it. There are many talented artists, producing work for large print houses. They may not be Picasso, but they are extremely successful in what they do.
Canvas art prints offer the opportunity to enjoy all of the style, without the heavy price tag. Original canvas art is an expensive commodity these days. As is a one off original Armani. However, would you refuse an off the shelf Armani? Simply because it was mass produced. Canvas art prints are not so different. With this in mind, when purchasing modern canvas art as a gift, one must choose what suits that person. The combinations of artist and artists’ styles available are endless, one could say, even relentless. Also bare in mind, when an ‘off the shelf’ canvas art print, is placed in its own unique environment, it will take on its own form.
Minimal aesthetics and clear cut lines. Apartment living has certainly brought forth the concept of a modern, minimalist world. Nevertheless, modern canvas art is not just a commodity, reserved for new apartment buildings. Today, many people are ‘opening up’ older houses, to make way for their more open planned lifestyles. Canvas art prints are reproduced from various mediums, including oil and acrylic. Which means, some prints also benefit from tactile qualities. With regards to color? They can be as equally dramatic, as they can subdued.
Color is an extremely important factor. It is one of the first decisions that will need to be made. Does this person prefer more natural and tactile tones and tints? Or, are they more adventurous with their coloring? Some minimalist décor pertains to bright and bold, complementary colors. Other forms of the style lean towards a more subtle and tactile ambience. It is important to ascertain which you are buying for. There is little point presenting a modern print, with big and bold coloring, when the recipient much prefers subtlety!
If you do not, then yes, things can get difficult. A modern canvas art print is a very personal gift. Taking the time to choose wisely, has great dividends: The recipient will be grateful of the gesture, for many years to come. The basic principals of purchase are simple. Know that persons style. Know what modern styles are available. So, although there may be thousands of different prints available, that does not mean you have to trawl through them all.
If you love the idea of presenting a modern canvas art print as a gift, yet have little information with regards to their décor, there are still options. In this instance, a canvas print from a more well known artist is often the better, and safer, choice. The work of many well known modern artists, like Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt, are available. Incredulously, their work lacks much of the copyright protection, even a florist can enjoy these days. Therefore, the price of the original, is not reflected within the price of the canvas print. Gratefully! The choices of modern art canvas prints is extensive. However, with a little research, it is very easy to find the perfect gift.Find articles on site builder -

The Emergence of Canvas Art Genre Painting
Posted on November 25th, 2009 No comments“The Milk Maid” canvas art painting was the artwork of Dutch baroque master Jan Vermeer that became so popular in the eighteenth century. People said that the painting was a representation of virtue. With the canvas art size of 45.5 by 41 centimetres, this shows Vermeer’s skill in rendering the effects of light and shadow on the subject given. This great artwork was the beginning of canvas art genre painting in human history.
Genre painting in fact is simply defined as painting with realistic depiction of scenes from day to day human life. The genre deals with ordinary life of people, including family, streets scenes, sports, recreations, parties and festivals, and prevailing traditions. Originally, genre painting was from the ancient time. We can find the scenes painted on Egyptian tombs which reflected the daily life of ancient Egypt at that time. Pompeii and Herculaneum works also revealed many genre paintings, both conventional and erotic.
However, the genre did not appear until the late Middle Ages in several religious calendars and manuscript books. Paolo Veronese was an Italian artist who painted The Marriage at Cana under the commission of Benedictine Monks in order to decorate the refractory of their monastery in Venice. The painting that depicted the marriage banquet at which Christ turned water into wine was made on the wall by Paolo in the 1560s.
Dutch Genre Painting Masters
The Dutch genre painting on canvas art came afterwards with the work of Jan Vermeer. Being the most illustrious school of genre painting during the 17th century, Dutch painters were called as little masters due to limited number of painting artists there. The most leading painters of Dutch like Jan Steen, Gerard Ter Borch, and Gerrit Dou contributed much to the genre paintings of artworks. Vermeer, Rembrandt and Frans Hals were also considered as Dutch painting masters who produced unrivalled beauty on canvas art.
Later Genre Paintings
Jean Antonie Watteau, Jean Baptise Chardine, and Honore Fragonard were the painters who showed vital developments of French genre painting. Grace at Table as one of Chardin’s painting on canvas art for example, was playfully decorative. It portrayed everyday middle-class wife domestic activity with uncontrived and serious realism touch. The Education of Dogs that belonged to Fragornard delicately showed flowery painting as well as coloured scene of romance and was one of the great artworks from French painters.
Entering the 19th century, genre painting spread out in Europe and the United States. William Sidney Mount which called as “Jan Steen of Long Island” was known as one of the leading American painters in this period besides Robert Henri, Joan Loan, George Wesley Bellows, and Grant Wood. Mount specialised on landscapes painting on canvas art. Eel Spearing at Setauket was one of his great artworks. Another great work on canvas art of Mount entitled Bargaining for a Horse was created in 1835. In addition to the artwork of Mount, Grant Wood contributed his artwork entitled American Gothic in 1930s. The style was influenced strongly by Flemish portraits though Wood’s subject was apparently rural American. Hence, the genre painting on canvas art developed much more broadly all over the world and revived up until present time.

I've been denying the artist inside me for too long. It seems to be that no mater what I do in life, things always bring me back to my Art. I love it, I enjoy it, it defines me. At the moment I'm just following my dreams, doing what I love...
Painting has always been a long time hobby of mine, but over the past couple of years it has been something I've found myself doing more and more and I've given a lot of my work away without documenting it, so a lot of it is lost in the sands of time... With the site I'm hoping to get a lot more exposure and feedback on my work which will help me to grow and develop further as an artist. All comments and critiques are welcome!
